What' up, Barbies, Hackers!

In the last couple of months, our devs have been busy, as ever, building new groundbreaking features that'll change how you experience HackerNoon. While some of our more substantial developments are still in the incubation phase, you can read on for some juicy spoilers on what to expect next.

Startups of the Year 2023 is showing some crushing numbers, officially surpassing last year's total votes! We launched a parent Tech Categories page that makes finding tags a breeze, an official HackerNoon website builder and Content Management Software, and a redesign of the Tech Companies Page!

This product update reflects changes to the platform since May 13th until July 25, 2023.

Tech Categories Are Live!

If you're searching for your next thing to read, head to our brand new Tech Category Page - your ultimate destination for exploring all HackerNoon topics besides your profile page and our 35,000+ tag pages! Here, you can find the main categories of all HackerNoon tags, with the 10 top-performing stories from the last week in each category.

Each category page, such as https://hackernoon.com/c/blockchain, displays tags in that category, ranked by page views relative to the previous week, plus a link to our related podcast so you can listen on the go. Is there a better place to start?

Lovingly called "purcats"

Plus, you can now easily find these 22 parent category pages via the iconic HackerNoon homepage, right underneath the top 5 stories of the day, with totally original icons.

Tech Company News Pages

Our Tech Company News Pages have been around for a while, dedicated to keeping our readers updated on the current state of tech, feeding you the latest rank and interest rates of the biggest companies. Now with a fresh design, this page lets you browse through companies' trending interest, stock prices, and overall ranking.

HackerNoon's weekly, free and timely data-driven insight dives into which tech companies are rising and falling in the public consciousness, ranking interest based on people's consumption of every tech company news page over the last week. Check out Microsoft's page to get the full scope of our design updates.

You'll also notice a new button on our Tech Co Directory: "Create your company's news page." To apply for a news page, fill out our form with all your company's essential info and hit submit! Our team will review it, and if all is good, we'll contact you. Here's what it looks like:

Personal or HackerNoon? No matter - it’s linked!

Distribution is a big part of HackerNoon policy, and this upcoming feature promises to make managing portfolios easier than ever! It started by converting text stories into various formats such as audio story filesmultilingual translationsterminal view, printer view, offering options to download JSON and PDF versions, and a cryptographic text backup via digital signature on Arweave. And now, our devs just opened up content management software features that ensure that whatever is written on HackerNoon can be uploaded to an individual website.

Part of the perks of this feature, besides the obvious content management, is the customization that comes with it - we’re talking CTAs, links, and even website color - and fast loading. Though it’s still only open for in-house use, it’ll soon be available for all our Hackers! In the meantime, check LearnRepo.com, HackerNoon.tech, and EditingProtocol.com for a taste of our Content Management Software.

HackerNoon Page Builder

HackerNoon keeps striving to be as self-reliant as possible. That is why we've been working on our website builder, a tool that allows us to build and distribute HackerNoon content from scratch at our own pace. Check out About HackerNoon and Web 2.5 Documentary pages and see what our website builder can do.
